Synthesis and Characterization of Silver-Ceria Nano-composites

  • Synthesis and characterization of diverse compositions of silver-ceria nano-composites from 100% silver to 100% ceria.

  • Researched the impact of the ratio of silver (Ag) to cerium (Ce) in Ag/CeO2 in altering the surface plasmon resonance (SPR) frequency of Ag.

  • Investigated the bandgap energy fluorescence spectrum, and FWHM of the silver-ceria nanoparticles.

  • Determined material properties using UV-Visible spectroscopy and fluorescence spectroscopy.

MPPT Based Photo-voltaic Charger for Street Lights

  • Reviewed and compared various Maximum Power Point Tracking algorithms for an PV charge controller application.

  • Designed a maximum power point tracking algorithm-based system to increase the efficiency of 100W solar panel.

  • The system costs were 50% less than existing system and boosted the solar panel efficiency from 40-43% to around 80%.

  • The system also provided battery protection from over-current and under-current.

Microcontroller Based Solar Tracking System

  • Designed a system based on AT89C51 micro-controller that orients solar panel facing towards the Sun.

  • The system used light dependent resistors (LDR) as input to determine the position of the Sun. to move the solar panel, stepper motor was used.
